中国共产党十八大以来，以习近平同志为核心的中共中央从坚持和发展中国特色社会主义的全局和战略高度定位法治、布局法治、厉行法治，创造性地提出了一系列战略性、实践性、真理性、指导性的新理念新思想新战略，形成了习近平法治思想。
Since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, the Central Committee with Xi Jinping at its core has put the rule of law high on its strategic agenda for upholding and developing Chinese socialism. In building up legal systems and rigorously exercising law-based governance, it has put forward a series of new ideas, new thinking, and new strategies as guides to action, giving shape to Xi Jinping thought on the rule of law.
习近平法治思想是中国共产党十八大以来法治建设最重要的标志性成果，在中国特色社会主义法治建设的进程中具有重大现实意义和深远历史意义。
This landmark thinking is of great immediate importance and profound historical significance for the efforts to advance socialist rule of law in China.
在习近平法治思想的指引下，十年来，法治中国建设取得历史性成就、发生历史性变革。
Under its guidance, historic achievements have been secured in this regard in the past decade.
社会主义法治国家建设深入推进，全面依法治国总体格局基本形成，中国特色社会主义法治体系建设加快推进，司法体制改革取得重大进展，社会公平正义法治保障更为坚实。
China has built a comprehensive framework for law-based governance, sped up work on developing the system of socialist rule of law with Chinese characteristics, and made major progress in reforming the judicial system, thus providing more effective protection for social fairness and justice.
法治兴则民族兴，法治强则国家强。当前，中国正处在实现中华民族伟大复兴的关键时期，世界百年未有之大变局加速演进，改革发展稳定任务艰巨繁重，对外开放深入推进，需要更好发挥法治固根本、稳预期、利长远的作用。
At present, momentous changes of a like not seen in a century are accelerating across the world, confronting China with arduous tasks in reform, opening up, development and stability as it strives for national rejuvenation. Given that a strong rule of law is a fundamental guarantee of the prosperity of a nation or country, it’s necessary for China to give better play to the role of the rule of law in consolidating foundations, ensuring stable expectations, and delivering long-term benefits.
要坚持走中国特色社会主义法治道路，建设中国特色社会主义法治体系、建设社会主义法治国家。
In doing so, China must follow a path of socialist rule of law with Chinese characteristics, develop a Chinese system of socialist rule of law, and establish itself as a socialist country under the rule of law.
围绕保障和促进社会公平正义，坚持依法治国、依法执政、依法行政共同推进，坚持法治国家、法治政府、法治社会一体建设。
To this end, it should, with a focus on protecting and promoting social fairness and justice, pursue coordinated progress in law-based governance, law-based exercise of state power, and law-based government administration and take integrated steps to build a country, government, and society based on the rule of law.
全面推进科学立法、严格执法、公正司法、全民守法，全面推进国家各方面工作法治化。
Besides, all-around efforts will be made to ensure sound legislation, strict law enforcement, impartial administration of justice, and society-wide observance of the law and see that all work of the state is carried out under the rule of law.
在法治轨道上全面建设社会主义现代化国家，必须坚持以习近平法治思想为指引，坚持全面依法治国，深入推进新时代法治中国建设。
In a word, to build a modern socialist country under the rule of law, it’s vital to exercise law-based governance on all fronts under the guidance of Xi Jinping thought on the rule of law. The main tasks are as follows:
要完善以宪法为核心的中国特色社会主义法律体系，加强宪法实施和监督，加强重点领域、新兴领域、涉外领域立法，推进科学立法、民主立法、依法立法。
1. Improving the socialist legal system with Chinese characteristics with the Constitution at its core by —better implementing the Constitution and conducting constitutional oversight; —stepping up legislation in key, emerging, and foreign-related fields; —making further headway in making laws in a well-conceived and democratic way and in accordance with the law.
要扎实推进依法行政，转变政府职能，优化政府职责体系和组织结构，提高行政效率和公信力，全面推进严格规范公正文明执法。
2. Steadily advancing law-based government administration by —transforming government functions; —improving the government responsibility system and organizational structure; —enhancing the efficiency and credibility of government administration; —ensuring that administrative law enforcement is strict, procedure-based, impartial, and civil across the board.
要严格公正司法，深化司法体制综合配套改革，全面准确落实司法责任制，加快建设公正高效权威的社会主义司法制度，努力让人民群众在每一个司法案件中感受到公平正义。
3. Ensuring strict and impartial administration of justice by —deepening comprehensive and integrated reform of the judicial system; —fully and faithfully enforcing judicial accountability; —accelerating the development of a fair, efficient, and authoritative socialist judicial system; —seeing that the people feel justice has been served in each and every judicial case.
要加快建设法治社会，弘扬社会主义法治精神，传承中华优秀传统法律文化，引导全体人民做社会主义法治的忠实崇尚者、自觉遵守者、坚定捍卫者，努力使尊法学法守法用法在全社会蔚然成风。
4. Stepping up efforts to establish the rule of law throughout society by —promoting socialist rule of law; —carrying forward fine traditional Chinese legal culture; —encouraging all our people to truly revere, readily observe, and firmly defend socialist rule of law; —making it a common practice to respect, learn about, observe, and apply the law throughout society.
